Newly proposed food inspection regulations would likely have little impact on Georgia’s meat industry.

The guidelines would require meat producers to keep products off store shelves until test results come in.

The rules cover processed meat that’s ready for eating.

Josh White of the Georgia Beef Board says testing of raw meat is already in place:

“The industry, we spend millions of dollars every year to improve the industry from within…trying to eliminate any potential safety concern.”

Georgia farmers raise a million head of cattle a year.
