Nearly 100 Home Depot stores across Georgia are now hiring seasonal workers. The employment boost comes with the chain’s so-called “Spring Black Friday.”

The Atlanta-based company needs 60,000 temporary employees nationwide as the spring home improvement rush approaches next month.

In Georgia, that means full and part-time jobs are open now. Spokesman Craig Fishel says this is the second year Home Depot has launched spring sales to lure consumers:

“You have folks who have been for several months sitting around planning the projects they want to do in the spring or the summer. They are finally able to get out in the spring and do that.”

Nearly a half-million Georgians are currently out of work. The Home Depot has cut thousands of jobs since the recession started. The company will announce its first-quarter earnings next week.
