Johnny Isakson says if the month of December proved anything, Democrats and his fellow Republicans can work together and make progress in Congress.

On Monday, Georgia's junior U.S. Senator spoke to an Atlanta Press Club gathering about the legislative issues in the immediate future.

Before his speech, GPB’s Edgar Treiguts caught-up with Isakson for updates on a handful of topics important to Georgians -- healthcare, the water wars, and whether he thinks funding can indeed be locked-in for the planned expansion of Savannah's Port.

First though is Tuesday night’s State of the Union address, and whether there is truly a new push to work together.
