A retiring DeKalb County Superior Court judge is joining the Emory University faculty.

Judge Robert J. Castellani retires this month after more than 26 years of service. He will join Emory's Center for the Study of Law and Religion on Jan. 1 as a senior fellow in law and religion.

He plans to research how the U.S legal system can better handle the complex issues of how religious and spiritual values influence criminal and civil law.

He also will teach legal ethics to second- and third-year law students. Castellani graduated from Emory's law school in 1966.
