People across Georgia will be paying tribute to U.S. servicemen in ceremonies marking Veterans Day.

Officials at Fort Benning will be hosting a ceremony Thursday featuring retired Col. Ralph Puckett, a Korean War veteran and a member of the Army Ranger Hall of Fame.

Southeast Georgia Health System plans to honor veterans at its Brunswick hospital in the afternoon. Its featured speaker will be Harold Hicks, an Army veteran of World War II who participated in the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp.

DeKalb County is holding a service in Decatur Square honoring women in the armed forces. And residents in Douglasville will hold an evening parade featuring lights, floats and music to salute U.S. veterans.
