High school students from across the state are gathering at Georgia State University this week for the 16th annual Model United Nations Conference.

The two-day conference gives students a chance to explore issues of human rights, environmental problems, economic development and globalization. Groups of students are assigned to represent delegations from the U.N. and work on committees to debate issues.

The conference is Wednesday and Thursday at the downtown Atlanta campus. The event is free and open to the public.
