A Georgia-based home builder reports a loss of $60 million for its last quarter. Beazer Homes says a fall in new orders and home closings contributed to the loss.

Home sales are near their lowest levels in decades since the federal homebuyer tax credit expired in the spring.

Atlanta-based Beazer saw orders for new homes fall 20 percent.

Beazer is one of the nation’s 10 largest builders of single-family homes.
