And yes, you do get fries with that. Beginning in January McDonald's restaurants will be offering a chance to have your nuptials under the golden arches. The prices start at about a thousand dollars. They'll make you an apple-pie wedding cake and give you some personalized gifts, I myself am holding out for the Hamburgler as my best man. From CNN:
The idea came about when one couple who met and dated at McDonalds held their wedding party at the Admiralty branch this year, according to McDonald's Hong Kong director of corporate communications and relations Helen Cheung.
Cheung tells the South China Morning Post that the chain has been getting 10 calls a month from people who wanted to throw their wedding bash at McDonald's joints.
The packages start at about a thousand dollars and go up from there. But be warned, a McDonald's spokesperson tells Morning Edition they won't close the whole restaurant for you, just a "cozy section."
(Just a note of fair warning, the SCMP story, which seemed to have sparked all the coverage of this, is behind a highly annoying registration wall. Way worse than usual. And it's only a couple of lines. Trust me, I'm the journalist, I've done your work for you.) [Copyright 2010 National Public Radio]
