MACON, Ga. — Democrat Jim Marshall in Georgia’s 8th Congressional District is taking money from an organization that typically supports Republicans. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce says it also supports Democrat John Barrow in the 12th over Republican Ray McKinney
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is airing so-called “education” ads in the 8th and 12th district. They show senior citizens thanking the congressmen for voting against health care.
The Democratic group Move On dot org called on Democratic candidates to reject the Chamber ads, but Marshall says he’s heard nothing.
“I haven’t had any calls or requests to reject the Chamber’s advertising.”
Marshall says he welcomes the support of the Chamber because they focus on economic development which could bring jobs to his district.
