Slur Came From Chambliss Office

U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss said that a derogatory slur left on an Internet discussion over the rights of gays to serve in the U.S. military appears to have originated from his office. But Chambliss' office issued a statement Wednesday saying investigators have yet to determine who left the message.

The statement said the case has been handed over to the Senate Sergeant at Arms and is still under review. The comment was posted on an Internet site dedicated to gay and lesbian issues. It was posted by a user identified as "Jimmy" who used a slur against gays. The blog's readers then traced the Internet Protocol address to the suburban Atlanta complex where Chambliss has an office.
