According to Ga. police, the e-mail circulating around the state about an impending flood of speeding tickets is a hoax.
State police have a warning about a fake e-mail that’s going around.

They say it’s a hoax.

It claims that Georgia quote "estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers' overtime. The rest to help with dwindling budgets."

It goes on to claim that authorities are mandated to write tickets every few minutes.

Apparently this email is an urban myth that dates back to 2006.

It even cites the Atlanta Journal Constitution as a source of the information.
