Oxendine Probe Goes Before Judge

A Fulton County judge heard arguments from two insurance companies who want to block a State Ethics Commissioninvestigation into contributions to Republican gubernatorial hopeful John Oxendine.

Judge Kimberly Esmond Adams heard the arguments Thursday in Fulton County Superior Court and took the matter under consideration.

State Mutual Insurance Company and Admiral Life Insurance Company are seeking to block the commission's investigationalleging it's politically motivated.The companies are under investigation for funneling money to Oxendine's campaign through 10 political action committees.

Oxendine is the state's insurance commissioner and is barred from taking money directly from companies he regulates. He has sincereturned the money.
