ASU took down top ranked Oklahoma State 3-1-1 in the championship match of the 112th NCAA Division 1 Men’s Golf Championships at the Honors Course near Chatanooga.

With the victory, ASU also defeated Florida State’s second-ranking team and Georgia Tech’s third-ranking team.

The win marks the first national title for Augusta State.

Head coach Josh Gregory played in the 1996 NCAA Championships as a junior.

“It has validated the success of the coaches (that came) before me and the players before them,” Gregory said. “I can promise you that there is no university or golf program that will appreciate a national championship as much as Augusta State.”

It was also announced that Gregory is being named the National Golf Coach of the Year by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
