Macon’s Cherry Blossom Festival is rebounding. It will return next year and festival officials want to expand it.

The event saw increased profits this year totaling somewhere between $130,000 and $140,000 to pay salaries and bills.

Its president says grant money will be used to make the festival bigger and stage new events throughout the year.

The festival’s success comes after a deluge canceled the festival’s street party in 2008.

And the 2009 event ended with about $16,000 net profit after rain held crowds down and nearly canceled the street party again.
