A 9-year-old boy who took a handgun to his Macon school earlier this year has gotten 18 months of probation.
Authorities say the boy pleaded guilty in Bibb County Juvenile Court Friday to a felony count of possessing a weapon on school grounds.
The third-grader also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of possession of a pistol by an underage person and disrupting a public school.
The boy's attorney, Stephanie Thornton, told authorities he took the weapon to Morgan Elementary School after being threatened by an older child.
Authorities say the boy took the loaded Ruger handgun out of his mother's purse on Feb. 26.
The gun was recovered after children who saw it told a teacher
