Senator Preston Smith To Run For Attorney General

Updated: 4 years ago.

Republican Senator Preston Smith of Rome announced today he’ll be running for Attorney General.

Smith was stripped of his chairmanship of the senate judiciary committee last week after he refused to vote down Republican party lines for the hospital fee. He voted against it.

Senator Smith will be qualifying for the attorney general post tomorrow at the state capitol.

Current Attorney General Democrat Thurbert Baker is running for governor.
