Georgia Republicans have blocked Ray Boyd from running for governor on the GOP line.

When Boyd refused to sign the GOP oath pledging allegiance to the state party while qualifying at the state capitol today, Republican party Chairwoman Sue Everhart turned him away.

The real estate executive from Rutledge who has pledged $2 million of his own money to win the governor's race says the state party has strayed from many principles he believes in.

Boyd plans to gather the 44,000 signatures he needs to run as an independent.
