Today the full state house is expected to pass a $17.4 billion dollar mid-year budget that will fund state government through June. Due to declining revenues the budget is balanced with at least 3 more furlough days for most state employees and teachers. House Approriations Chair Ben Harbin says Governor Perdue thinks the budget is very conservative

“He can manage the rest of the way, because he had a 0 for the rest of the year growth, and if we don’t he feels we have some stimulus and we can backfill he feels like.”

Last month State Revenue was down again for the 14th month in a row. Budget writers say they won’t raise taxes and Georgia’s Constitution requires a balanced budget.
