Boeing Factory Amps Up Production

Thanks to a $2 billion contract, the Boeing factory in Macon has begun assembling wings for the Air Force’s A-10 Thunderbolt.

Workers then ship them to Hill Air Force Base in Utah, where they are attached to the plane.

The Air Force has nearly 350 of the jets, used to support ground forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The contract with Boeing’s Macon plant lasts through 2018.
