The U.S. Secret Service is in Plains, investigating an effigy of President Barack Obama found hanging from a building in the hometown of former President Jimmy Carter.

A Secret Service spokesman tells the Associated Press that the large black doll was found Saturday morning along Main Street in Plains. A witness told a local TV station the doll with Obama’s name on it was found hanging by a noose in front of a sign that welcomes visitors to the city.

Sumter County Sheriff's Department officials declined comment, referring all calls to the Secret Service.
