Emergency responders there say walkers spotted the 38-year old Savannah woman flailing her arms 600 yards offshore and they called authorities.
Rescuers say she was stranded for an hour in the chilly waters and was shivering uncontrollably when they pulled her out.
Paramedics treated her for hypothermia.
Ocean temperatures were in the 50s, cold enough to endanger the surfer even though she wore a wet suit.
