The Georgia State Patrol says there were a third fewer traffic deaths on the state’s roads over the Christmas holiday weekend.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports 12 people died in accidents during the 78-hour travel stretch, ending midnight Sunday. State Patrol officials had predicted 18.
Officers are preparing to cover the state during the next holiday travel period -- the 78-hour stretch for New Year’s, beginning 6pm Thursday.
