Funding for transportation is expected to get a hard look by lawmakers in the 2010 Session.
Funding for transportation is expected to get a hard look by lawmakers in the 2010 Session.
Funding for transportation will once again be one issue lawmakers will have to tackle in the upcoming legislative session.

For two years, lawmakers have been at odds over whether to allow metro Atlanta to tax itself one penny for local transportation projects or fund transportation statewide. The failure to decide has left Atlanta traffic in a jam with no option for congestion relief.

Representative Jerry Keen says this might be the year metro Atlanta gets its way.

"If any other region wanted to do that they could. It's mainly metro driven. I don't think you're going to any other regions outside Atlanta band together".

Keen says lawmakers are looking at ways to find transportation dollars for the rest of the state without raising taxes.
