Jenkins County has the highest unemployment rate in the state. That comes after a rash of factory closings hit the county seat of Millen. But a new state prison could be coming to town bringing with it jobs that could help turn the county's struggling economy around.

Corrections Corporation of America, one of the nation's largest private prison companies, submitted a bid to the state for the job of building a new 1,000 bed prison in Millen. If CCA gets the contract it could mean more than 300 jobs for the area.
