An athletic apparel distribution center in west Georgia is set to close, putting 112 people out of work.

Sports apparel-maker Russell Brands will close its Columbus facility in early November.

It follows the shuttering of another Russell plant in Alabama earlier this year, which left 140 people without jobs.

The news of lost jobs in Columbus is a reversal of fortune for West Georgia, which has been one of the few regions to weather the economic downturn.

That’s mainly due to the construction of the KIA plant and connected suppliers setting up shop in the area.
