ATLANTA  —
Marietta’s own Melanie Oudin has advanced to the U.S. Open quarterfinals.

The 17-year-old claimed another comeback victory Monday afternoon in Flushing Meadows, New York, beating 13th-seeded Nadia Petrova.

Oudin is ranked 70th in the world.

She adds this victory to wins over No. 4 Elena Dementieva and No. 29 Maria Sharapova, and will see her ranking rise to at least No. 45 when the tournament is over.
