A 13-year old middle school student in Macon who brought a gun to school and was arrested after it fired has pleaded guilty. The judge sentenced him to a year in custody and four years probation.
The teen was on in-school suspension when the gun fired last week.
A police report says the student told a campus officer he found the gun in a drawer where he was sitting, and picked it up, intending to give it to the teacher, but dropped it and tried to hide it after it discharged.
He has been expelled from the school in the Bibb County school district which, like most systems across the state, has a zero tolerance policy for weapons on campus.
