Republican state Senator Jeff Chapman of Brunswick has thrown his hat into the ring for Governor in 2010. He’s filed the paperwork to join, making him the seventh Republican in the race.

Chapman has gained prominence through his fights over the renovation of state-owned Jekyll Island.

The other Republican candidates in the race are U.S. Rep. Nathan Deal of Gainesville, Secretary of State Karen Handel, state Insurance
Commissioner John Oxendine, state Sen. Eric Johnson of Savannah, state Rep. Austin Scott of Tifton, and activist Ray McBerry of McDonough.
