AUGUSTA, Ga. — Two communities in Georgia will be getting new centers that will provide counseling to veterans as they deal with issues related to combat.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will open what they call readjustment centers in the Columbus area, home to Fort Benning, and Augusta, home to Fort Gordon.
The centers will provide mental health screenings and treatment for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.
They will also provide counseling on employment, family issues. and education to combat veterans and their families, as well as counseling to vets who have been sexually harassed.
