Council Wants Repayment for Courthouse Murderer's Defense
Primary Content
The Georgia Public Defender Standards Council wants Fulton County to repay nearly 750-thousand dollars for defending courthouse murderer Brian Nichols.
Nichols is serving multiple sentences of life in prison for the March 2005 murders of four people, including a judge at the Fulton County Courthouse.
Fulton County spent 620-thousand dollars for experts and Nichols lead attorney.
But the public defenders’ council says state law allows it to be reimbursed more money because this was a capital case.
The Fulton County attorney will look into the situation.
