A site in Georgia’s Hall County was one of the final three being considered by Carbon—along with locations in South Carolina and the Indiana-site. Georgia officials had lobbied for the plant over the past several months, which could have brought 1,500 jobs and more than $300-million of investment.
The Connersville, Indiana area has been especially suffering in the ailing economy, with an unemployment rate of 15.9%.
