$7.8 Million Stimulus for Georgia Transit

ATLANTA  —   Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said Friday that MARTA will get $7.4 million for upgrade and replacement of the fire protection system for rail stations, lines, and facilities. Funding will also be used to support engineering, design of the models for each facility, and initial implementation.

Henry County is to receive $427,674 for two 30-foot, 16-passenger, wheelchair-equipped buses and one 15-passenger van.

Funds will also be used to update communications equipment, software, security radios and cameras, and for preventive maintenance.



The money is part of $3.5 billion in Recovery Act funds for transit improvements nationwide.
