The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration says it will not investigate last week's parking deck collapse in Atlanta. The agency said Tuesday its mission is to ensure the safety of workers and that its regulations apply only to the employer-employee relationship, not to activities that affect the general public.

An Atlanta Fire and Rescue spokesman had said last week that OSHA would likely conduct an investigation once the search and rescue mission was done. Four floors of a portion of the Centergy parking deck in Midtown Atlanta collapsed around lunchtime on June 29. David Tyndall of Gateway Development, the original developer of the deck, said the cause of the collapse still has not been determined.
