One of Governor Perdue's proposals to help ease the $2.2 billion budget crunch stops grants that give homeowners some relief on their residential property taxes. Perdue says that would save nearly a half-billion dollars.

But it's getting stiff opposition from elected officials who don't want their constituents to face an extra property tax bill in tough economic times. Mary Ellen Cheatham has this report.
