Midday Music Playlist for 08/13/2012

Ferdinand Ries was a student, family friend and colleague of Beethoven's, and Beethoven's "Pathetique" Sonata influenced the piece by Ries we hear today, "L'infortunee" (The Unfortunate One). Also on the show, tunes by Elgar and Villa-Lobos heard at the Olympic closing ceremonies yesterday, and longer pieces by Mozart, Copland and Beethoven himself.
