The Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Speaker of the House and members of the General Assembly attended the 19th Annual Celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. King held in Georgia's State Capitol.
Ambassador Andrew Young delivered the King Holiday Charge. Lieutenant Governor Mark Taylor, Speaker of the House Terry Coleman, Senate President Pro Tempore Eric Johnson, Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Chair Ed Harbison and Governor Sonny Perdue
also shared their reflections on the meaning of the King holiday and
the importance of Dr. King's legacy. The Governor presented the State
proclamation of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to Alveeta King and musical inspiration was provided by Henry M. Goodgame, Jr. and accompanist Fred Bryan.
