This is the 23rd legislative day of the Georgia General Assembly.

State charter school advocates clear a big hurdle today as the Constitutional Amendment allowing the state to authorize Charter Schools narrowly passes the House.
The enabling legislation is yet to come. We'll have highlights of the debate.

A bill intended to keep illegal immigrants out of Georgia’s colleges and universities passes Committee late this afternoon.

A measure prohibiting union–only contracts for public works construction from being awarded in Georgia passes the House; opponents say the bill is unnecessary.

Democratic lawmakers file a bill to restrict vasectomies in reaction to several abortion bills.

Early childhood education is critical in developing all kinds of skills. Here in Georgia, we have a lottery–funded Pre–K program. Tonight we are joined onset by Commissioner Bobby Cagle of – Bright from the Start: Georgia’s Department of Early Care and Learning.

We are also joined by Maureen Downey of the AJC to help put it all into perspective.
