Legislative Day 11 - January 31, 2012

It’s the eleventh legislative day of the 2012 session.

On tonight’s program, a bill to ban illegal immigrants from attending public colleges and universities in Georgia is considered by the House Higher Education Committee.

A measure allowing hunting with silencers passes the Senate; supporters say it’s a hearing safety issue.

It’s education week on Lawmakers, part of GPB’s on going efforts to improve the graduation rate in the state, and on tonight’s program we focus on the Complete College Georgia Initiative to encourage targeted students to complete a 4-year degree. University System Chancellor Hank Huckaby and Technical College Assistant Commissioner Josephine Reed-Taylor join us to discuss the issue.

We are also joined by Tom Crawford of The Georgia Report for insight analysis of the day’s Capitol news.

You can watch Prime Time Lawmakers every night the Georgia General Assembly is in session at 7p.m. on Georgia Public Broadcasting. The program re-airs the next morning at 5:30 am
