Today is the 2nd legislative day of the Georgia General Assembly and Governor Nathan Deal delivered his second annual State of the State Address to a joint session of the General Assembly.

Governor Deal renewed his commitment to continue funding the HOPE scholarship at current levels. Last session changes were made to HOPE and for the first time tuition payments were tied to actual Georgia Lottery revenue.

The Governor also announced his recommendations for criminal justice reform. Those recommendations range from $10 million dollars towards the creation of new accountability courts targeting drug and dui offenses, as well as the mentally ill and veterans.
