The 18 billion dollar FY 2012 budget passed the Senate appropriations committee this morning. Though the Senate will probably take up the budget on Wednesday, Senate appropriations chairman Jack Hill says a House/Senate conference committee will ultimately decide the final content of the spending bill.
Work today continued on the comprehensive tax overhaul, but many provisions offered the tax reform council are now gone. The proposed grocery tax and many service taxes will not make it into the bill, but a tax on auto repair probably will be included.
