Senate Democrats unveiled an alternative to the Governor Deal-backed HOPE plan today. Details include instating a salary cap on HOPE families that changes with lottery revenues, and funding a low-interest loan program for students who qualify for HOPE academically, but not financially.

Also the bill allowing students of charter schools to participate in extracurricular activities in their resident public schools cleared the Senate today. And a bill aimed at cracking down on human trafficking and child prostitution passed the House.

As HOPE funding plans are weighed at the Capitol we are joined on-set by House Minority Leader, Stacey Abrams, and Representative Doug Collins, Governor Nathan Deal’s Floor Leader. Both Representatives are sponsors of Governor Deal’s HOPE bill.
