Day 5 - January 22, 2007

Georgia lawmakers today sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, urging him to make a "full and careful review" of the bid by U.S. Airways to take over Atlanta-based Delta Airlines. Delta CEO Gerald Grinstein says that as many as 10,000 Georgia jobs will be lost if the takeover is allowed to proceed. The letter received bipartisan, as well as bicameral, support.

House Majority Leader Rep. Jerry Keen held his weekly press conference today. Rep. Keen discussed the Georgia tax code and Georgia sex offender legislation.

Protesters gathered outside the capitol today to mark the 34th anniversary of the landmark Roe v. Wade decision by the U.S. Supreme Court. Lawmakers' Jesse Freeman has the story.

And Lawmakers' David Zelski sat down with Senate Appropriations Chairman Jack Hill. Sen. Hill gave his take on last week's Budget Briefings, and discussed Georgia's Peach Care insurance program.

All that and more, tonight on Lawmakers.
