Budget Day 1 - January 17, 2007

Governor Sonny Perdue began the budget briefings with words of encouragement, and charged lawmakers to look to the future when considering the budget.

Revenue Commissioner Bart Graham advocated adding 12 new state auditors to increase revenue collecting efficiency.

Chancellor of the University System of Georgia Dr. Erroll Davis said that making access to higher education equal with retention is a high priority for the System.

And State School Superintendent Kathy Cox talked about Georgia's schools' progress and shortcomings.
