Georgia Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond will be in the WNEG-TV studios to explain why North Georgia is experiencing so many layoffs and plant closures and what the labor department is doing to assist laid-off workers. The program will also focus on the plight of hundreds of laid-off workers in Southeast Georgia and how the labor department is helping them find new careers. Job Fair 2008 will also visit Columbus and West Central Georgia to highlight the department’s critical role in economic and workforce development. WALB Television’s Karla Heath-Sands will host the program from GPB’s Atlanta studios.
