Georgia’s teacher shortage – There are already some 120,000 teachers in Georgia, but that is not nearly enough. A study committee was set up during the 2008 legislative session to address the shortage and their recommendations were recently released. Joining us to share the highlights are Kelly Henson, Executive Secretary of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission and Randy Kamphaus, Dean of the College of Education at GSU.






How truckers changed the economy – When family farmers were struggling back in the 1930s, many turned to long-haul trucking to make ends meet. Fiercely independent, they helped to shape the post-war economy - and the way we eat. Shane Hamilton, an Assistant Professor of History at UGA and the author of a new book Trucking Country: The Road to America’s Wal-Mart Economy, joins us to discuss the truckers’ story.
