Under the Gold Dome – How can we fund PeachCare? Should alcohol be sold on Sundays? Should drivers in pick-up trucks have to wear seat-belts? And where in your car should you be able to hide a gun? State legislators deal with many varied issues that affect our lives. Joining us to discuss some of them are Mike Coan [R Lawrenceville] and Rob Teilhet [D], Minority Chief Deputy Whip.

Also: William Chace is best-known in Atlanta as a former President of Emory University but his academic career took him through many, varied institutions of higher education. His recently-published book 100 Semesters: My Adventures as Student, Professor, and University President, and What I Learned Along the Way, is a strong critique of the current state of higher education in America. He sees much to lament about it – spiraling costs, consumerism, institutional self-promotion, corruption of intercollegiate sports, the melancholy state of the humanities – but even more to praise in its strength and vitality. William Chace joins us to discuss his book and his views on higher education.

Next week on Georgia Weekly: In January, Casey Cagle was sworn in as Georgia's first Republican Lt. Governor. Born in Hall County – a seventh generation resident – Cagle was first elected to the state Senate from north Georgia's 49th District in 1994 when he was only 28. Now an experienced politician, he is making his mark on the legislative agenda. Lt. Governor Casey Cagle will join us to discuss his ideas and to tell us how he is enjoying his new role.
