1:00PM Sunday, May 7, 2006 – Medicare Part-D – With a May 15 deadline looming nearly 25% of eligible Georgia seniors have yet to sign up for the new prescription drug plan. For many seniors, the process, the Medicare web site or the numerous options have been too confusing to tackle. In this taped repeat of the live May 2 program, which generated over 450 calls to a phone bank of experts in the GPB studios, Georgia Weekly offers help and answers to those who want to enroll before penalties kick in.

7:00PM Tuesday, May 9, 2006 - Predictive Health – America spends more on health than other countries [16% and rising] but the results are disappointing. Many believe that's because today's health care systems are focused on treating disease not on maintaining health. Predictive Health offers a new approach, by defining health, developing tools to measure it and interventions that, done early, maintain or restore it. Emory University is in the forefront of this work, which could produce a more efficient, more cost effective, and more accessible health care system. Dr. Kenneth Brigham and Dr. Michael Johns, both of Emory University, join us to discuss the new approach.

Historic Preservation – Georgia has a rich history but the physical signs of that history are constantly endangered by the state's rapid growth and development. Whether it's aging storefronts on a small town main street, lighthouses on the coast or Civil War battle fields, Georgia's historic resources have their champions. But there are divisions even within the historic preservation camp, between purists and those who believe that adaptive reuse is the best way to save our history. In recognition of Historic Preservation Month, Georgia Weekly welcomes two leaders in the field: Greg Paxton, President and CEO of the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, and Boyd Coons, Executive Director of the Atlanta Preservation Center.
