The Race for Governor – With less than a month to go before the November 7 election, Georgia Weekly offers our viewers in-depth interviews with the two major candidates for Governor.

Sonny Perdue – First up is incumbent Governor Sonny Perdue. Four years ago, state senator Perdue pulled off an amazing upset over Democratic incumbent, Gov. Roy Barnes and became the first Republican Governor in Georgia since Reconstruction. How does he think he's done in the past four years and what are his plans for a second term?

Mark Taylor – In our second half-hour we welcome Lt. Governor Mark Taylor. He is trailing in the polls, but those who know him well say his steely drive, determination and tireless energy should never be underestimated. Taylor was first elected to the state senate while in his late 20's and he served there until elected Lt. Governor in 1998. What is his vision for Georgia?

Next week on Georgia Weekly – Georgia's changing demographics – There is nothing more exciting to UGA demographer, Doug Bachtel, than census statistics. As information from the 2000 census and updates continue to be released, Bachtel reads them like tea-leaves to see how the state is changing and what impact those changes will have.

Also – Patient-centered Care – The Medical College of Georgia is a national leader in using partnership between the patient and medical providers as a guiding vision for the care it delivers. Julie Moretz, Director of Family Services and Patricia Sodomka, Sr. V.P. of Patient and Family-Centered Care will join us to discuss the program.
