High School Dropouts – In March a new national report was released on high school dropouts. Titled The Silent Epidemic, the report describes a vast ocean of wasted potential and some chilling conclusions as to how this will affect the future of the young dropouts and the nation as a whole. But it also suggests some solutions. Joining us to discuss Georgia's dropout situation and programs that are making a difference are Holly Robinson, Senior Vice President at the Georgia Public Policy Foundation and Dave Spence, President of the Southern Regional Education Board.


What is the future of marriage? – This year Emory University is releasing a number of books studying marriage in all its aspects. They look at the past, present and future of the institution and its impact on social issues. Two of the authors join us to discuss their work. Anita Bernstein, Professor of Law at Emory Universityfocuses on the legal aspects of marriage while Robert Franklin, Professor of Social Ethics at Emory, writes about the particular crisis facing African-American families and marriage.
