Diabetes
About 18 million adults in the U.S. have Type
II diabetes. If the current rate of increase continues, nearly 30
million adults will have it by 2030. What's worse, the death rate for
this disease is going way up, while death rates for other diseases,
such as cancer, are going down. Joining us to discuss what some are
calling a diabetes epidemic are Medical College of Georgia researcher,
Dr. Jin-Xiong She and Dr. Suzanne Gebhart, Emory University Professor
of Medicine Emerita.

Where Law and Religion Collide
How much separation is there really between
church and state? And what happens when they collide? Joining us to
discuss some of the battleground issues is John Witte, Jr., Emory
University's Jonas Robitscher Professor of Law and Ethics.

Next up: Health in developing world & the state of public education
Peter Bell, President of CARE USA, stands down
next year after a decade at the helm of the large Atlanta-based relief
organization. He will review the state of the developing world, recent
successes and failures and the challenges that lie ahead. Also on next
week's program, we welcome Jonathan Kozol to discuss his recently
published, highly acclaimed book "The Shame of the Nation: The Restoration of Apartheid Schooling in America" published by Crown.
